Honda is one of the most popular vehicles on the market and has some new technology that everyone should be made aware of.
The Honda’s ADAS or Advanced Driving Assist System is a groundbreaking trio of three new technologies that increase safety to a whole new realm. These 3 technologies are what is known as technological advances that can only be classed as intelligent car making.
- LKAS or otherwise known as Lane Keeping Assist System was first acknowledged several years ago by Honda along with a few other modern advances. LKAS has a safety feature that essentially avoids swerving. Basically, a camera is positioned in the front window which takes pictures of the lane that the person is driving in and then the data adjusts the power steering wheel accordingly, allowing for just enough torque in which to keep the car in the lane.
Essentially then the Lane Keeping Assist System therefore eases the stresses that come with highway driving, allowing the person to travel more comfortably while increasing safety on the road.
- ACC or otherwise referred to as Adaptive Cruise Control uses a millimeter wave radar system to maintain the appropriate distance with the vehicle that is in front of a driver. This cruise control system is groundbreaking and helps allow for a more relaxed and productive driving situation. The adaptive cruise control system uses a radar allowing the car to decrease in speed when approaching other vehicles and then accelerate again to the preset speed once the traffic allows for it. ACC advance technology is regarded as a key ingredient in intelligent vehicle engineering. The system is installed behind the cars grill and helps maintain a safe following distance, thus providing a valuable safety feature.
- CMBS is otherwise known as a Collision Mitigation Brake System and monitors the the distance in which you are following along with the closing rate between you and the car directly in front of you. This braking system warns the driver if a collision is likely and then helps reduce the impact when a collision is eminent and thus can be avoided. It can basically be described as the real life version of a force field much like something one might see on Star Trek. The range is approximately 100 meters and the radar checks out other vehicles much as that of a Intelligent Highway Cruise Control to avoid collisions. If the risk of collision is eminent the driver is alerted and can then make adjustments accordingly to avoid a collision. The system can even assist a person in the appropriate braking, if the collision is unavoidable the CMS system then increases the seat-belt function along with implementing a pre-collision braking system which reduces the speed before the actual collision, thereby hopefully reducing the injuries.
All these safety and enhanced advance technologies complement Honda vehicles and add added safety measures to the already safety features that Honda is known for such as front and side airbags, seat-belt pretensioners and occupant load limiters. To keep whiplash injuries to a minimum, Honda has also installed front seat active headrests which are activated when someone is pushed into their seat due to a rear impact.
When purchasing any Honda vehicle everyone is encouraged to make sure their vehicles are equipped with these advance driving systems. If they are not they are encouraged to get the optional equipment if necessary in order to obtain this advance technology for the cars.
